Court cards are some of the most difficult cards to read in the Tarot deck. While the Major Arcana cards are relatively easy to apply to any situation, it’s pretty hard to separate court cards from their personality. This issue with the Queen of Wands is no different.

As a whole, the Queens in the Tarot deck represent quiet strength. They are the unseen force behind the King and in some ways, the Queens actually run the show.

Queens have plenty of life experience and are in a position of power to influence things and make changes. In Tarot, the Queens know how to harness the power of feminine energy and get results.

She holds a sunflower in her left hand and the wand with sprouting leaves in her right hand. Her gaze is direct and her posture is confident.

Two lions adorn her throne facing opposite directions. Most Tarot readers believe that these lions symbolize fire and strength. A black cat sits at her feet, symbolizing the shadow or hidden self.

Unlike the Page of Wands and the Knight of Wands, the background isn’t super visible, but we can see the three mountains in the distance.

Queen Of Wands General Meaning:

The Queen of Wands is often called the “witch of the Tarot deck.” This is because she represents the magic that can happen when you learn how to harness the energy of the Universe and create a life that flows.

The Queen is aligned with the seasons and with her outer self and shadow self. She represents both the sun and the moon, action and intuition. In fact, she has mastered duality, which is why she is so powerful.

Her occult powers and intuition are hinted at by the black cat on her feet, but what people see from the Queen outwardly is a sense of warmth and confidence. She is truly herself in all interactions.

In a reading, the Queen of Wands meaning is simple. She encourages you to believe in yourself and go after what you want.

Confidence is really important when you pull the Queen of Wands. In almost every reading, this card indicates that our thoughts create our reality. In fact, the Queen’s power isn’t deep or mysterious; she simply believes in herself.

This card reminds you that you are here for a purpose. Even when you feel down or defeated, your confidence and creativity shine through.

The Queen of Wands tells you to be bold and own your power, whatever it may be. In fact, her power isn’t solely feminine; she has masculine attributes, too. This is one of the most well-rounded Tarot cards.

You can feel confident in every part of yourself, even those you believe you must keep hidden. Don’t be afraid to speak up and to shine your light. Your power comes from inside.

Although the Queen of Wands appears naturally powerful and confident, she has done a lot of work to get here. Don’t be afraid to dive into the shadow side, do Inner Child work, or go to therapy. Any of these options will only make you more powerful in the long run. Learn how to create your own reality with your thoughts, beliefs, and words.

The Queen of Wands can indicate that you inspire others around you. Remember to shine your light on others and give people self-assurance, too. You may be the center of attention in a certain area of your life; this can be used to help others. Learning to access your shadow self will help you connect with other people on a much deeper level.

Keep in mind that the Queen of Wands is a passionate, involved, caring mother. She is loyal to her children and ready to defend them at any turn. If it fits your reading, the Queen can indicate that someone is doing a lovely job in motherhood (or even fatherhood!) and is perfectly balancing feminine energy with masculine. She is creative but disciplined.

Queen Of Wands In Love:

If you’re single, the Queen of Wands in love readings indicates that you’re most likely to find someone by connecting over your interests. For example, if you love biking, join a group. If you’re into music, go to live performances. This card indicates that you’re ready to meet someone!

The Queen says that it is time to be independent, confident, outgoing, and friendly. This is how you will attract the right person. Be self-assured and know what you’re looking for before you dive in. Don’t change to fit anyone else’s desires, but always be true to yourself. Otherwise, your efforts will definitely backfire.

In a relationship, the Queen of Wands suggests that it’s time to be more open with your partner. If you have avoided saying something or have only hinted at what you want, this card says that you must open up and have a clear discussion.

However, the Queen of Wands also indicates heightened passion and intimacy. The Queen is very passionate and is actually the most sexual of all the Queens. This card encourages you to express your needs (both emotional and physical) in an open and honest way. It’s also an opportunity to connect on a deeper physical level.

Generally, the Queen of Wands says that you should be yourself. Don’t be afraid to show the pieces of yourself that you usually hide. Be confident in who you are; be different and unafraid. This will only strengthen your bond in a relationship.

Confidence is all you need to progress in your love life when you pull the Queen of Wands. The power to change anything is within you.

The Queen of Wands can also indicate very passionate feelings. Unlike the Page or Knight, these emotions tend to be long-lasting. The individual is probably fond of your personality as well as your looks or sexual presence.

Generally, these feelings are serious. In the area of the reading, the individual is feeling motivated to make things happen. They’re also confident about what they want.

Sometimes, the Queen of Wands can indicate loving or protective emotions in a mothering way. The Queen wants the best for everyone. At her worst, she feels neutral. There are simply no negative feelings present in this card.

Queen Of Wands Career:

In career, the Queen of Wands is always a good sign. It generally means that you can accomplish far more than you even realize.

The Queen is telling you to do whatever it takes to meet your goals. Look at your work from all angles, determine what you want, make a plan to get there, and execute it. The Queen of Wands is the master of following through with her projects.

The Queen of Wands indicates that you have to make it happen. The power is within you alone. You must be “all in” to reach your goals.

To succeed, focus on honing your confidence and drawing on the power of the Universe. If what you’re doing is in alignment with your shadow self and intuition, the energy will simply flow. This is how you can accomplish things that seem impossible.

At work, the Queen of Wands indicates that you’re a great leader or manager. You have a natural inclination for assigning work to others and motivating your employees. Focus on balancing your own career while simultaneously lifting up those around you.

Like any other Wands Court Card, the Queen of Wands can indicate that there is a change happening in your career. The Wands are transformational and the Queen is no exception.  All you need to succeed in any field is determination, courage, and passion. The Queen of Wands in almost every placement says that these qualities are already within you; they must simply be accessed.

As career advice, the Queen of Wands indicates that it’s time to harness your energy and get things done. You can accomplish a lot in a short amount of time! Stay efficient and passionate. It is this duality that will see you through. You need both short term and long term vision to succeed.

If you’re experiencing conflict at work, this card suggests that you use charm and motivation to solve your issues instead of blunt force or anger. There is always a smarter, more temperate method that will get you the results you desire.

Queen Of Wands Money:

When it comes to money, the Queen of Wands is extremely pragmatic. She does her research and makes informed decisions. This card indicates that you’re currently making smart financial decisions. You have properly investigated and are following through.

Be careful that in the future, you don’t fall off this course. The Queen of Wands is a gentle warning to stay frugal. However, you have the potential to earn more money. In fact, money is most likely in your future. You should simply be careful that you spend your money in ways that are well-researched and pragmatic, then watch your finances grow.

The Queen of Wands also indicates that you should follow your gut when it comes to money. In the image, the Queen of Wands is actually drawing far more power from the black cat at her feet than we realize. This is your shadow self; if you ignore it, you will struggle to earn money. By integrating both your shadow self and outer self, you can make money flow.

Queen Of Wands Health:

In a health reading, the Queen of Wands is a positive omen. This card indicates that you will soon feel a burst of long-term energy and will heal more quickly than you realize. At the very least, this energy will give you the head start you need to get the results you desire.

Sometimes, the Queen of Wands can also indicate that you must work with the shadow side to remove mental blockages that are causing ill-health in the physical body.

The Queen of Wands typically indicates that health must come to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies all at once. She is one integrated person; she has mastered her duality.

As health advice, the Queen says that physical activity may be beneficial, if it feels right in your gut. Ultimately, the Queen of Wands says that you will get better or heal. If you’re feeling down, have faith.

Lastly, the Queen of Wands in health can indicate pregnancy or fertility. However, if you’re not actively trying to have a child, don’t worry. This. meaning only applies if this is an answer that you’re seeking!

Queen Of Wands As Spirituality:

The Queen of Wands is a very spiritual card. In a spiritual reading, she indicates that it is time to integrate your physical and spiritual self into one. Duality must be mastered.

Both your outer and inner personalities are essential parts of you. The Queen card says that it’s time to see all things as connected, including both parts of yourself. This is how you will master the flow of energy.

This card can also be an indication that you must tune into your intuition. Develop your instincts so that your intuition grows stronger. The Queen has spent her life practicing to hone her intuition and you can do the same.

Sometimes, the Queen of Wands can indicate that witchcraft may be of interest to you. She sits with her Familiar at her feet (the black cat), meaning that you may enjoy spirit work or development of your psychic abilities. Alternatively, you might want to connect with nature in a deeper, more profound way.

Queen Of Wands As A Person:

The Queen of Wands is  a woman (ages 25-50) with blonde hair and green/blue eyes. She is a charismatic, outgoing, and loyal leader and mother.

However, I recommend that you don’t get too hung up on the physical attributes of the Queen. In my experience, this card can represent just about anyone (even an elderly man!) as long as the qualities fit the reading.

The Queen of Wands as a person is someone who lights up the room when they enter. Their personality is sunny, happy, and competent. They are typically the center of attention.

This person is passionate and extroverted. They’re friendly and social; they may naturally draw people towards them, but they also spread happiness.

The Queen of Wands also represents someone who is confident. They know what they want and are willing to go after it. No one can shake their sense of self.

Even though this person is fiery, they’re also smart. They know how to turn a confrontation to their favor without blowing things out of proportion. They are focused on their goals and are quite passionate when they set their mind to something.

At their worst, this individual could thrive on excitement or even drama. They might be fueled by things “happening,” even if they’re negative events. However, they’re also loyal and protective of those they care about.

This person is very individualistic. This is not a group person. Instead, this individual is probably a good leader, but they might not be great at following the lead of others. Generally, though, they are positive and up-lifting. This is a person you want on your side!

Queen Of Wands Yes Or No:

When you pull the Queen of Wands in a yes or no reading, you can be pretty confident that the answer is yes. This card should give you confidence. If you’re considering your next move, the Queen tells you that you have mastered the skills you need; go for it.

This card is also a sign that your thoughts shape your reality. Anything can be a positive answer if you simply make it so.

Reversed, the Queen of Wands generally indicates that the answer is no. It counsels you to reevaluate what you’re seeking, because it may not be in your best interest.

Make sure you’re doing things because you truly feel they’re right, not because you’re listening to the advice of other people or are wanting to impress others. This card counsels you to go inside and listen to your intuition.

Queen Of Wands Advice:

As advice, the Queen of Wands says to face things head on. It’s time to harness your energy and produce the results that you desire.

Your thoughts control reality. If you’re not getting the results that you want, the answer is within you. Alter your course of action and reassess your thoughts. Are you holding yourself back in some way?

The Queen of Wands also encourages you to inspire other people. Go into the world and shine your light on others; you will all reap the benefits.

Generally, this card means that it’s time to take action. Go after what you want! You are ready and able to succeed if you choose to try. Enthusiasm and passion are the most important ingredients.

In group situations, the Queen of Wands tells you to take the lead. Again, you have all of the capabilities you need to succeed. Be brave and push forward. Lead by example.

Symbolism In The Queen Of Wands:

In every Tarot card, there is a whole myriad of symbols. In some readings, the symbolism will be extremely important, so I’m including the main symbols on the Queen of Wands here.

Keep in mind that symbolism will vary based on the deck you’re using. I recommend looking closely at the pictures on your cards if you’re not using the Rider-Waite deck. The symbolism of the card you actually pulled is much more important than the general meaning! This is one of the reasons why I love using varied decks.

Lions:

The Queen’s throne is decorated by an image of two lions facing in separate directions. They indicate strength, courage, royalty, and protection. This is the outward show of force; the Queen’s personality is large and confident.

The lions can also indicate that it’s time to have courage, both in your endeavors and in yourself. This is the way to gain true power. Courage comes from within.

Sunflowers:

In the Rider-Waite deck, the Queen is holding a sunflower, but her grown and throne are also adorned by sunflowers. These symbolize her outer energy and her sunny personality as well as joy, fertility, and reaping the benefits of life (as the flowers finally bloom).

The sunflowers also indicate that the Queen possesses all of the fiery qualities of the Wands, yet they are expressed in a delicate, controlled manner. She is not angry but rather beautiful in her passion.

Black Cat:

I personally love the symbolism of the black cat sitting at the Queen of Wand’s feet. The cat symbolizes the shadow self which is the lesser-known inner part of the Queen. It indicates that she has successfully integrated both pieces of herself. She shows the blooms of the sunflower and dresses in sunny colors outwardly, but inwardly she draws on her deeper, darker power from the cat.

The black cat can also symbolize witchcraft, the occult, or the witch’s Familiar spirit. Generally, it demonstrates independence. The Queen is competent in a group (indicated by the multiple lions) but is also powerful on her own; her power comes from within. Others may not see this, but it is always there.

Lastly, the cat indicates that the Queen of Wands is much more perceptive than others realize. She may be sunny and charismatic, but she also notices all things and follows her gut feelings when it doubt.

Wand:

Of course, the Queen holds a wand in her right hand. Like every other Wands Court Card, the wand symbolizes action. The leaves sprouting from the wand indicates that you are always growing and learning, even when you feel that you have reached maturity.

Queen Of Wands Reversed:

Personality-wise, the Queen of Wands reversed can indicate someone who is strong but stubborn, selfish, or insecure. Sometimes, her strength is just a show. Inside, she is actually terrified.

The Queen of Wands reversed suggests that someone is being far too hot-headed. This is stemming from an overly emotional place; it’s time to let logic take the wheel and deal with your emotions in a rational manner. Both logic and emotions should partner to make decisions. Deal with the inner fear that causes you to lash out.

The Queen of Wands is someone who gets things done, but reversed, this can go too far. She might get her way by intimidating people and refusing to listen to the opinions of others. This is the boss who dominates the workplace and decimates anyone who goes against her. Sometimes, the Queen of Wands reversed can even be a bit cliquey in a group atmosphere. She thrives on drama and discord because it gives her a sense of power.

This card can alternatively indicate that you’re is trying to fade into the background, afraid to stand out. You may feel rejected socially or have experienced a clear loss of friends or drop in social status.

In a relationship, the Queen of Wands reversed can suggest that jealousy and insecurity are running the show. It’s time to focus on what’s true instead of on drama. Cut to the chase and utilize logic in your discussions.

The Queen of Wands reversed can suggest that the warmth has gone out of a relationship. It’s time to refocus and see if you can reignite the spark or if you must move on. However, you may need to go inside and develop your confidence before you can tackle problems in your relationship.

Ultimately, you need to stick up for yourself in a way that is actionable and authentic. Using dramatics or anger doesn’t constitute authenticity. Find a way to speak and live your truth that is logical and kind.

Be careful that you don’t let your temper run out of control. Your partner may feel overwhelmed because you have such strong anger but simultaneously need a huge amount of attention from them. This card can indicate anger and neediness. Work to cultivate your inner confidence so that you don’t rely on your partner to boost you up.

If you’re single, the Queen of Wands reversed suggests that you have had these temper issues in past relationships or friendships. Now is the time to go within and work on your own lack of confidence before entering into a relationship.

In the more positive sense, the Queen of Wands reversed can indicate that you’re in touch with your shadow self. However, you may also be quite introverted socially. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing! This card indicates that you need time alone to connect with your intuition.

The Queen of Wands reversed counsels you to focus on your inner self and build your sense of authentic confidence. Don’t pay attention to what others think; formulate your own set of beliefs.

True confidence comes from the inside. You may appear self-centered or might exaggerate your dramatic qualities in an effort to create confidence, but you will only feel self-assured when you do the inner work.

In career, you may feel drained or negative. Your work feels unsatisfying. It’s important to find your motivation. You may need to question what you truly want out of career; this will take a conscious effort.

The Queen of Wands reversed in a money reading indicates that you are mismanaging your finances. Perhaps you’re being too strict with your money and come off as cheap, or maybe you are spending your money as soon as it hits your wallet. Either way, it’s time to find balance using your intuition.

Ultimately, the Queen of Wands reversed (in any situation) counsels you to go inside and develop your confidence. She also suggests that you should balance your emotions with logic and work to be more rational.
