Working with Lilith can feel intimidating at first. As a dark goddess associated with rebellion, independence, and shadow work, she doesn’t fit neatly into anyone’s box.
But don’t let that stop you from building a relationship with her. Lilith is incredibly powerful when it comes to inner transformation, especially if you’re ready to embrace your wild side and face the parts of yourself you’ve been avoiding.
If you’re curious about how to start, here are five ways to work with Lilith that are accessible, powerful, and deeply personal.

5. Shadow Work
Lilith is deeply connected to the shadow, those hidden parts of ourselves we often try to bury. One of the best ways to connect with her is through shadow work. This involves looking at your fears, insecurities, and any “dark” aspects of your personality that you’ve been avoiding.
Lilith will guide you as you work through these emotions, helping you reclaim your power and find freedom in the parts of yourself you’ve been taught to suppress. This can be a very painful process, but in my experience, true power is found in the shadow.
Lilith can guide you through actual shadow work, such as using prompts, or can simply reveal repressed parts of yourself to you as you work with her.
4. Dreamwork
Lilith often appears in dreams, especially when you’re ready to tap into your deeper unconscious. If you want to connect with her, try setting an intention before sleep to invite her into your dreams. Keep a journal by your bed and write down anything that stands out when you wake up.
Over time, patterns and messages from Lilith will begin to emerge, giving you insight into your life and spiritual path.
One of my most intense dreams ever was when I did a ritual with Lilith before bed. I fell asleep and found myself in her cave by the red sea with her wild woman aspect. I’ve never felt such a powerful presence before. Truly, there was no mistaking the fact that I was actually connecting with Lilith.
3. Rituals During the Dark (New) Moon
As a goddess tied to darkness, Lilith’s energy is strongest during the New Moon. This is a perfect time to do rituals focused on new beginnings, self-liberation, or banishing things that no longer serve you. Whether it’s a simple candle ritual or a more elaborate spell, the New Moon offers a direct line to Lilith’s transformative energy.
Not only can you feel Lilith most strongly during the dark moon, but you can also do a great deal of shadow work using her archetype. The dark moon uncovers the deepest, most hidden parts inside of you. They can be painful to face, but this is also when true transformation and initiation takes place.
2. Invocation
If you want to feel Lilith’s presence more directly, try invoking her in your sacred space. You don’t need anything complicated—just a quiet place, a black candle, and an intention to connect. Speak her name aloud and invite her energy into your space. Over time, you’ll feel her presence become stronger, and you can start asking for guidance or working with her on specific areas of your life.
Invocation is one of my favorite ways to connect with Lilith, not only because she can speak directly in your mind, but because you find out so much about yourself and your shadow during an invocation ritual.
1. Working with Symbols
Lilith is associated with various symbols, like the serpent, owl, and the dark moon. You can incorporate these symbols into your altar, wear them as jewelry, or meditate on them as a way of calling Lilith into your life. Working with these symbols can help strengthen your connection to her, making it easier to feel her energy around you. Her symbols are powerful in the outer world.
You can even just stare at one of her symbols, or her sigil, while chanting her name. Trust me – you’ll get results.
Lilith is a powerful force for those who are ready to break free from limitations and dive into deep personal transformation. If you’re feeling called to work with her, start small and let your connection grow over time.
